Katie grew up in Vancouver exploring the outdoors through rock climbing, skiing, hiking and trail running. She took her interest in fitness to the University of British Columbia where she earned a degree in Kinesiology.
After her BKin, she moved to New Zealand on an adventure guiding program where she underwent intensive training and assessments to receive her rock climbing and hiking New Zealand Outdoor Instructor Association certifications, as well as Pre-Hospital Emergency Care First Aid. She then worked as an outdoor education instructor for multiple schools in and around Christchurch, focusing mainly on rock climbing and abseil camps with students of all ages.
Working in adventure activities to promote personal and social growth for children and youth is something she is very passionate about. She believes some of the greatest learning experiences can be achieved through a combination of adventure and challenge.
Now in Whistler, where her love for rock climbing began, she enjoys spending time exploring the endless mountains, introducing beginners to the sport, and helping people improve.
