Bob Allison- (President and Manager of The Core Climbing and Fitness Centre; formerly co-founder of the Great Wall Climbing Centre) has been climbing for over 35 years. Bob and his family have lived in Whistler for 23 years during which time Bob has created two climbing areas: Nordic and Calchek, and put up dozens of routes rated from 5.4 through 5.13 throughout the Sea to Sky corridor. Bob’s athletic accomplishments include more than climbing: Bob was a Canadian National Ski Team member winning the Canadian National Junior Alpine Championships 2-years in a row, a world-class windsurfer and a great surfer. He created Whistler’s first snowboard club and then Canada’s first National Snowboard team as Head Coach. He is also passionate about his mountain biking and rides whenever he can. He has won several mountain biking events, inluding 1st in his category in one of North America’s biggest biking competitions – “The Sea Otter Classic” in Monterey, California, 1st in the Sea to Sky’s most popular Mountain Bike race – “Test of Metal”, 1st in one of Whistler’s summer favorite team races – “Ken Kwon Memorial” and 3rd at the Canadian National Championships in St Felicien, Quebec. Bob has been voted as one of Whistler’s favourite athletes in the Pique’s “Best of the Year” tribute. As an ACMG rock guide, he has shared his passion for climbing with hundreds of aspiring climbers, and now is eager to share his passion for fitness with The Core staff, members and visitors. For Bob, fitness and sport are more than just activities: they are a way of life.
John is a long time Whistlerite and has a passion for endurance sports. He is an avid mountain bike enthusiast, elite runner and triathlete. John’s competitive history includes:
John is forever helping people out and can often be found doing the sweep in our weekly mountain bike races, coaching people through our technical mountain bike trails. He is also one of the coaches for the running clinics leading up to the Whistler Half marathon and is past president of Whistler Off Road Cycling Association.
His goal in teaching classes and personal training sessions is to create a welcoming comfortable environment where our guests can excel and become the best they can be.
Andy has Worked for Tottenham Hotspur (English Premier League) and Brisbane Lions (Australian Rules) as both a Remedial Massage Therapist and as a strength and condition coach. He has an Advanced Diploma in Muscle Skeletal Therapy, Diploma in Remedial Massage, Certificate 4 in Personal Training, and is a level 1 Agatsu Kettlebell instructor. He specializes in sports specific training and rehabilitation of injuries.
Andy spends most of his spare time on a bike and races cross country mountain marathons and enduros.
As a certified Pilates instructor and climbing enthusiast, Tani brings to the Core a passion for strong and stable body movement. Her personal training approach introduces clients to Classical-based Pilates, targeting shoulder and pelvic stability through alignment and core muscle recruitment.
In addition to individualized private and semiprivate sessions, she caters to a range of fitness levels in Pilates group mat classes.
She is fully certified on all Pilates apparatus and offers this knowledge during Mat sessions through the use of blocks, straps and rollers to train the body from head to toe.

Trainer/Coach/Instructor at The Whistler Core Climbing and Fitness Centre
A strength and conditioning specialist with a degree in Sport Development and Physical Education. Ten years of traveling the world eventually brought him to Whistler where he now calls home. A self proclaimed gym rat and team sport athlete who has evolved into a backcountry skier, trail runner and mountain biker.
Rich was voted one of the top trainers in Whistler 2015 and is active in the local community delivering nutritional talks and hosting local sporting events. A drive to better his teaching lead to advanced training in Olympic Weightlifting and Mountain Athlete conditioning. Currently he runs a successful bootcamp and high energy group classes called Insanity and Xtreme circuit. His expertise in ski/snowboard specific fitness has lead to a Mountain Athlete Conditioning program.
This brings the philosophy of training inside to improve performance outside and introduces heavy compound lifting into the group class environment. Train insane or remain the same, eat clean to feel supreme.
Having been raised in the French Alps, enjoying Mountain life to its fullest comes naturally for Sophie. In the winter Sophie can be found skiing hard and in the summer she loves downhill mountain biking, windsurfing and wake-surfing.
It is her passion for weight lifting that motivated her to pursue a career in Personal Training and Nutrition. Sophie spent five years working as a Trainer and Nutritionalist in France and Switzerland and now is eager to share her knowledge with Whistler!
Sarah has been teaching in the Whistler community for two years, after completing her 200 hour teaching at White Gold Yoga, and more recently another 100 Hours with Baptiste Power Yoga. She delights in yoga so much she has inspired her entire family to practice.
Sweet and firm, her motto is ‘don’t wish for it, work for it’. Sarah will provide you with grounds to gain mobility in your body so you can better perform in all of the activities you so love in Whistler.
